How to make little trees air fresheners

Step 1: Make the tree template

Start by downloading and printing the tree template on heavy cardstock or thin cardboard. If you don’t have a printer, you can draw your own tree template using a pencil and ruler.

Using an X-acto knife or scissors, carefully cut out the tree template.

Step 2: Trace and cut out the tree shapes

Place the template on top of a sheet of scrap paper. Trace around the template with a pencil.

Repeat this step until you have enough tree shapes to fill your desired area. We made 9 trees for our air freshener.

Using scissors, carefully cut out the tree shapes.

Step 3: Add essential oils to the trees

Using a dropper, add 2-3 drops of essential oil to each tree. We used pine and eucalyptus oils for our air fresheners. You can experiment with different essential oil combinations to find a scent that you love.

Step 4: Assemble the air fresheners

Cut a piece of jewelry cord that is long enough to tie around your rearview mirror. We cut ours to be about 18 inches long.

Tie the cord around the top of one tree, making sure to leave a long tail. This will be used to hang the air freshener from the rearview mirror.

Thread the cord through the other trees, spacing them evenly. Once all of the trees are attached, tie the cord in a knot at the top.

Step 5: Hang the air freshener in your car

Hang the air freshener from your rearview mirror and enjoy the fresh scent of nature!

To keep the air freshener smelling fresh, add a few drops of essential oil to the trees every few days.

Helpful tips

– If you don’t have scrap paper, you can use construction paper or any other type of thin paper.

– You can also add a few drops of essential oil to the jewelry cord before tying it around the trees. This will help to diffuser the scent of the oil as the air freshener hangs in your car.
